Bucktail State Park Natural Area is on SR 120 between Emporium and Lock Haven. The 16,433-acre park was named for the Civil War soldiers from the local Bucktail Regiment who built rafts in order to travel from Driftwood to the endangered State Capitol as quickly as possible. A scenic drive follows Sinnemahoning Creek and the West Branch of the Susquehanna River through a narrow valley called the Bucktail Trail, also known as the Sinnemahoning Trail, which Native Americans used for traveling between the Susquehanna and Allegheny rivers.
Free.
Hours: Daily dawn-dusk.
