Whitaker Center For Science and the Arts, downtown at 225 Market St., serves as a regional center for science, art and culture. The complex presents more than 100 hands-on exhibits and displays on three floors. The Backstage Studio exhibit gallery features interactive exhibits that focus on the technology used to make movies, TV, music and theater like sound and special effects. Educational documentaries and Hollywood movies are shown on a four-story-high screen in the Digital Cinema. A 664-seat performance theater hosts plays, concerts and dance events throughout the year. Art on the Curved Wall, an exhibit in the lobby, features artwork by local artists.
