The Hershey Story, The Museum on Chocolate Avenue is downtown at 63 W. Chocolate Ave. (US 422). This museum features exhibits about Milton S. Hershey's life, including his chocolate factory, the town he created and his philanthropic legacy. In the lobby, visitors can sample various flavors of single-origin warm drinking chocolate "flights" at Tastings. Chocolate Lab classes explore the qualities of chocolate and explain techniques of working with chocolate like tempering, dipping and molding. Food is available.
Museum $12.50; $11.50 (ages 62+); $9 (ages 3-12); free (active military with ID). Chocolate Lab $12.50; $11.50 (ages 62+); $9 (ages 4-12); $7.50 (active military with ID). Combination Museum and Chocolate Lab $20; $19 (ages 62+); $15 (ages 4-12); $7.50 (active military with ID). A fee is charged for Tastings. A combination Museum and Hershey Gardens ticket is available. Ages 0-3 are not permitted in the lab.
Hours: Open daily 9-7, mid-June through Labor Day; 9-5, Feb. 1 to mid-June and day after Labor Day-Dec. 31; 10-5, in Jan. Closes early Christmas Eve. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
