LancasterHistory.org, 230 N. President Ave. at jct. Marietta Ave., houses a 15,000-item artifact collection featuring more than 200 paintings and prints, textiles, glass, ceramics and furniture. The family history research center and library contain more than 1 million historic manuscripts, 50,000 Lancaster County photographs and an Amish quilt collection. The 10-acre grounds include the Tanger Arboretum with more than 100 species of trees from around the world, and President James Buchanan's Wheatland.
Galleries only $7; $5 (ages 11-17 and 65+); $20 (family, two adults and two children ages 11-17). Combination Wheatland and galleries $15; $13 (ages 65+); $8 (ages 11-17); $35 (family, two adults and two children). Arboretum free. Phone ahead to verify admission rates.
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9:30-5; closed Jan 1-8, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and Dec. 31. Arboretum daily dawn-dusk.
