Fort Ligonier, US 30 and SR 711 at 200 S. Market St., is a full-scale, on-site reconstruction and restoration of a British fort built in 1758. The fort, a stronghold during the French and Indian War, contains a fascine cannon battery with reproduced British artillery pieces. A museum includes The French and Indian War Art Gallery of Original Art and an in-depth exhibit entitled The World Ablaze: An Introduction to the Seven Years’ War, which features more than 200 original items that were acquired from a variety of countries. Picnicking is permitted.
$10; $8 (ages 17-21 and senior citizens); $6 (ages 6-16); free (active military and veterans with ID). Phone ahead to verify rates.
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9:30-5, Sun. 11-5, mid-Mar. to mid-Nov.; museum only open Fri.-Sat. 10-4, Sun. 11-4, rest of year. Closed Thanksgiving, Dec. 22-25 and Dec. 31. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 1 hour minimum.
