AAA Editor Notes
Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center is within Fairmount Park behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art at 640 Waterworks Dr. Serving as a model for more than 30 other American water delivery systems, the Fairmont Water Works was a 19th-century engineering wonder providing clean water to the growing Philadelphia vicinity.

Operating 1815-1909, it now houses historical and interactive environmental exhibits, galleries, a theater, a freshwater mussel hatchery and displays that invite visitors to discover the wonders of water.
