Historic St. George's United Methodist Church, 235 N. 4th St. at the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, was dedicated in 1769 and is said to be the oldest Methodist church used continuously for worship. The church museum contains historic artifacts, including a bible presented to the church by Francis Asbury, one of the first Methodist bishops in the United States. In 2016, the museum will feature an exhibit of paintings by contemporary American artist Bonnie Mettler called "My Racial Ignorance." For guide service ring the bell at the side entrance on New Street. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.

Hours: Mon.-Fri. 10-3. Access to historical library and archives by appointment only. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
