National Shrine of St. John Neumann, 1019 N. 5th St. at jct. Girard Ave., is dedicated to the life and canonization of Philadelphia's fourth Catholic bishop. Featured are stained-glass windows depicting his life and a glass altar containing his remains. A museum includes portraits, relics and personal items. Guided tours are available.

Hours: Shrine Mon.-Fri. 7 a.m.-6 p.m. (also Tues.-Thurs. 6-8 p.m.), Sat. 7 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Sun. 7-4:30. Museum open by advance request Mon.-Fri. 1:45-4:15, Sat. 11-4. Self-guiding cellphone tours are available. Guided tours are available by appointment (requires a minimum of 10 participants). Closed major holidays and during services. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
