Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building is at 2525 Pennsylvania Ave. at jct. Fairmount Ave., across from the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This 1927 Art Deco building (formerly the Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Co.) is an extension of the art museum and features frequently changed exhibitions of contemporary art, including costumes, photography, sculpture and textiles. An art library contains about 200,000 auction catalogs, books and periodicals published since the 16th century as well as electronic resources. A free shuttle provides transportation between the Perelman Building and the Philadelphia Museum of Art Sat.-Sun. every 10 to 15 minutes. Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
$10; $8 (ages 65+); $6 (ages 13-18 and students with ID); donations (first Sun. of the month). Combination ticket with the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rodin Museum, Mount Pleasant and Cedar Grove historic houses valid for 2 consecutive days, $20. Additional fees may be charged for special exhibitions.
Hours: Museum Tues.-Sun. 10-5; closed July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Library Tues.-Fri. 10-4 (also Sat. 10-4, mid-Sept. to mid-May); closed Nov. 24-28, Christmas Eve, Christmas and day after Christmas.
