AAA Editor Notes
The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, on Avenue of the Arts between S. Broad and Spruce sts., is home to the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Ballet, Opera Philadelphia and several music and theater companies. Comprised of the 2,500-seat Verizon Hall and the 650-seat Perelman Theater, the center is enclosed within an arched-glass atrium.
The Building and Theater tour gives an overview of the history of the Kimmel theaters, and once a month begins with a 15-minute demonstration of the Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ. Access to performance halls varies with event scheduling. The Art and Architecture tour focuses on the art displayed within the Kimmel and aspects of the building itself.
Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
