The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, on Avenue of the Arts between S. Broad and Spruce sts., includes The Kimmel Center, Academy of Music and Merriman Theater and is home to the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Ballet, Opera Philadelphia and several resident music and theater companies. The center houses the 2,500-seat Verizon Hall, the 650-seat Perelman Theater and the SEI Innovation Studio and is enclosed within an arched-glass atrium. The Building and Theater tour gives an overview of the history of the Kimmel Center campus, and once a month begins with a 15-minute demonstration of the Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ. Access to performance halls varies with event scheduling. The Art and Architecture tour focuses on the art displayed within the Kimmel and aspects of the building itself. Guided tours are available. Food is available.
