The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education

The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education is off the Schuylkill Expwy. (I-76) exit 338, .9 mi. e. on Green Ln., 2.3 mi. n. on Ridge Ave., .2 mi. w. on Port Royal Ave., then just n. to 8480 Hagy's Mill Rd., following signs. Covering 340 acres of fields and forests, the site features 3.5 miles of hiking trails, ponds, streams, wetlands, outdoor art installations and a 4-acre organic garden. Hickory, buttonwood, tulip, poplar and sumac trees are abundant, as are mica schist and quartzite rocks.

Previously an agricultural area, the center now houses a children's discovery center, an environmental art gallery, interactive exhibits and meeting space.

Pets are not permitted.

Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
