The United States Mint is at 151 N. Independence Mall East between Arch and Race sts.; the entrance is at the corner of Fifth and Arch sts. Utilizing video, audio, photographs, historic documents and samples of currency, a self-guiding tour of the U.S. Mint gives visitors a thorough description of American coin production from the late 1700s to today. Visitors can watch coining operations from a vantage point 40 feet above the factory floor.
Note: A government-issued photo ID is required for ages 18+. Visitors must pass through a metal detector and are subject to search. Photography, food, drinks and large packages are not permitted.
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9-4:30, Memorial Day-Labor Day (also Sun. 9-4:30, Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend); Mon.-Fri. 9-4:30, rest of year. Last tour admittance is at 4:15. Closed federal holidays, except Memorial Day, Labor Day and July 4. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 1 hour minimum.
