Berks History Center, 940 Centre Ave., contains displays that depict local history, including fine arts, industry, transportation and Pennsylvania German arts and crafts. A museum displays changing art exhibits and an antique transportation collection including a Conestoga wagon, a 1902 Duryea automobile and a horse-drawn streetcar. Across the street, Henry Janssen Library collection includes 30,000 photographs, almost 600 maps, newspapers dating to 1796 and other items relating to Berks County history and genealogy. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Museum $7; $5 (ages 65+); $4 (ages 4-17). Library $7; ages 0-11 are not permitted.
Hours: Tues.-Fri. 10-3; Sat. 9-3. Closed major holidays, day before Thanksgiving and holiday weekends. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
