AAA Inspector Notes
Inspector Pick (Eclectic/Unusual): After skeet shooting and some golf, you play chess by the fireside here; sip your cocktail and I can easily imagine what the 1920s REALLY were like.
Situated on a private mountaintop, this regal, stone-faced resort stands like a fortress overlooking the beautiful surrounding acreage. The restored grand hotel features contemporary rooms. A cozy lobby fireplace beckons you to sit and relax while the splendid Library Lounge is just the place to play chess and sip your drink. On-site amenities include a fine dining restaurant that offers meal plans, a tavern that serves a la carte and an authentic 1930s ice cream soda shop for the kids. A giant blackboard lists the days activities, from skeet shooting to golf, all of which the concierge will happily book for guests. Close your eyes for a moment and the grandeur of the Gatsby era might seem regained, albeit high in the Poconos. This property is highly recommended for those who appreciate the sublimely vintage. Smoke free premises. 193 units. 1-4 stories, interior corridors.

Pros: Nice historic hotel in a pretty rural Pennsylvania setting
Cons: Very expensive for small room. Would not recommend it unless you planned on partaking in the various activitie all were expensive. Charged extra activity fee if you did not make reservations directly without hotel. Extra cost for everything.

Pros: The hotel was old but very charming. Definitely had a lot of character and the rooms were renovated enough that you didn't think it was run down. A little secluded so it was quiet and peaceful.
Cons: The Lakeview Restaurant could have improved its wait staff service. Was pretty slow when the restaurant wasn't full to capacity.
Traveling as Couple
Pros: The lovely grounds and nature.
Cons: nothing

Pros: The staff was courteous. The place was very clean and kept up well. I liked the old time charm of it. The pools were nice and so was the lake. There were a lot of things to do for the kids but not as much for the adults.
Cons: Do not plan on renting a bike there. They are in the worst shape possible and the staff has no idea of how to fix them. The room was small. I would like to have seen more adults only games being organized like volleyball. Every activity costs $$
Traveling as Couple
Pros: The location and the grounds were beautiful. The gardens made you feel like you were transported to a little English tea garden.
Cons: The restaurants did not offer a wide selection
