Chanticleer Garden, 786 Church Rd., is a 35-acre garden situated on the former estate of pharmaceutical magnate Adolph Rosengarten Sr. Featured are landscaped courtyards; flowering trees and shrubs; vegetable and herb gardens; tropical plants; perennials and annuals; and woodlands and ponds. The Minder Ruin Garden displays plantings among the foundation of a razed stone house. The Rosengarten house contains family furniture, decorative arts and fresh flower arrangements from the garden; participants may tour the garden on their own following the house tour. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Garden $10 (ages 13+). House tour $15 (reservations required).
Hours: Garden open Wed.-Sun. 10-5, early Apr.-early Nov. 1 (also Fri. 5-8, May 1-Labor Day). Tours Fri.-Sat. at 11.
