The Site of Lucy Maud Montgomery's Cavendish Home, on Hwy. 6 at 8523 Cavendish Rd., .4 km (.2 mi.) e. of jct. Hwy. 13, is part of Lucy Maud Montgomery's Cavendish National Historic Site. This is the homestead where the author wrote “Anne of Green Gables” and lived for half of her life. The site captures the essence of the Cavendish Montgomery knew and loved. Although the old farmhouse and buildings no longer exist, the property includes gardens and exhibits as well as signs containing quotes from Montgomery's journal to help visitors understand her life on this farm.
