Confederation Centre of the Arts is downtown at jct. Grafton and Queen sts. Canada's national memorial to the Fathers of Confederation, this arts and culture center celebrates the origins and evolution of Canada through a rich variety of musical theater and choral productions, art exhibitions and heritage programs. The center houses the Homburg Theatre and several other theaters, a public library and an outdoor amphitheater. The Mack Theatre, part of the complex, is on the corner of University Avenue and Grafton Street.

The center's art gallery has a collection that includes more than 15,000 works of Canadian historical and contemporary art. Featured are works by Canada's foremost portrait artist, Robert Harris, and the original manuscript for Lucy Maud Montgomery's “Anne of Green Gables” (though not always on view). Each year the Gallery presents an average of 20 exhibitions featuring the works of Canadian visual artists, ranging from painting, drawing, photography and sculpture, to newer digital media presentations and contemporary interdisciplinary practices. The center also hosts the Charlottetown Festival's comedy, dramatic and musical productions, including the beloved and Guinness Record-setting production, Anne of Green Gables—The Musical, from early June to late September.

Food is available.
