Basin Head Fisheries Museum is 12 km (8 mi.) e. on Hwy. 16, on a bluff overlooking the Northumberland Straight. The museum showcases the island's historic inshore fishery. The ways of inshore fishing are reflected in boat gear, photographs and dioramas. There is a cannery, and a boardwalk offers access to a white “singing” sands beach and playground.
Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
