Church of Santo Domingo (Iglesia de Santo Domingo) is 3 blks. n. of the Zócalo on Av. 5 de Mayo, between avs. 4 Poniente and 6 Poniente. It was completed in the early 17th century and features colorful tile decoration.
Don't miss the spectacularly ornate Chapel of the Rosary (Capilla del Rosario), which has walls and a ceiling completely covered with gold leaf and gilded stucco figures of angels, saints, children and animals. The extravagant altar features a statue of the Virgen del Rosario, crowned and adorned with jewels.
