Maricao Forest Reserve (Bosque Estatal de Maricao) is on Rte. 20. A prime bird-watching site, the forest has a stone observation tower that provides fine views of the west and south coasts. The elfin woods warbler, the Puerto Rican woodpecker and many other endangered species can be spotted here. Some 25,000 fish, including largemouth bass, channel catfish and Congo perch, are raised yearly at the Maricao Fish Hatchery for release into Puerto Rican rivers and reservoirs.
Picnicking is permitted.
