The Aeolian of Cap-Chat (Éole Cap-Chat) is 2 km (1.2 mi.) w. on Hwy. 132, following signs. The Aeolian of Cap-Chat, said to be the tallest (110 m, 360 ft.) and most powerful (4 megawatts) vertical axis windmill in the world, is named for Aeolus, the Greek god of the winds. Like the Aeolian harp, a box with strings that sound when wind passes over them, the Aeolian of Cap-Chat makes a resonant sound when the wind strikes it.
Go inside the turbine and learn how it works via an audiovisual presentation. If you're not afraid of heights, put on a hard hat and safety harness and climb to the top.
