The Hole of the Fairy Cave

The Hole of the Fairy Cave (Caverne Trou de la fée) is 5.5 km (3.5 mi.) w. on 7th av. Docents lead guided tours of the site's impressive underground cavern. Visitors also can traverse gravel walking trails to view two impressive sets of waterfalls and the ruins of a 1922 concrete river dam.
Note: Visitors to the cavern must be physically agile and not inhibited by claustrophobia, as the cavern has narrow and rocky passages, and 101 steep steps that descend 68 metres (228 ft.). Bats and mice live in the cave and may be encountered during the tour. The underground temperature remains a damp 4-6 degrees Celsius (39-43 degrees Fahrenheit); warm clothing and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Tour narration in English is available by reservation.
