The Métabetchouane Historical and Archaeological Centre (Centre d'histoire et d'archéologie de la Métabetchouane), 234 rue Hébert, relates the story of the first encounter between the area's indigenous peoples and French explorers and trappers. On the grounds are replicas of the 1847 Hudson's Bay Co. trading post, a chapel and a historic powder magazine. Guided tours are available; reservations are required for narration in English. Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$9; $8 (senior citizens); $5 (ages 4-12); $25 (family, two adults and two children).
Hours: Daily 9-5, late June-Labour Day.
