The Native Museum of Mashteuiatsh (Le Musée Amérindien de Mashteuiatsh), 1787 rue Amishk, is dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the First Nations peoples who first inhabited the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region. The Ilnuatsh, as they are known, are represented through archeology, art and hand crafts. Educational films highlight the traditional Montagnais lifestyle. In summer the Uashassihtsh Cultural Centre can also be visited.

Cultural Centre $13.70; $12.80 (ages 65+); $11.87 (students with ID); $8.22 (ages 6-12); $37.58 (family, two adults and two children; $4.11 per additional child).

Museum daily 9-5, mid-June to early Oct.; Tues.-Fri. 9-4:30, early Oct.-Dec. 31. Cultural Centre daily 10-8, June-Aug. Allow 1 hour minimum.
