Lachine Rapids Jet Boat Tours (Le voyage Saute-Moutons sur les Rapides de Lachine) departs from the s. end of rue Berri at the Clock Tower Basin in Montréal's Old Port (M: Champ-de-Mars). The 1-hour trip travels upstream on the St. Lawrence through the historic Lachine Rapids. These once-unnavigable waterways accounted for Montréal's strategic location. The 1,350-horsepower, flat-bottom boats negotiate whirlpools as well as waves up to 3 metres (10 ft.) high.
Although rain ponchos, hats and plastic footwear are provided, a change of clothes is recommended. Speedboat tours also are available.
