Battle of the Châteauguay National Historic Site

Battle of the Châteauguay National Historic Site (Lieu historique national de la Bataille-de-la-Châteauguay), 6 km (4 mi.) e. on Hwy. 138 at 2371 Rivière Châteauguay, commemorates the battle of Oct. 26, 1813, when Lt. Col. Charles-Michel de Salaberry and his force of 300 Canadians stopped 3,000 invading U.S. troops. Interpretation center exhibits analyze the background of the battle and the living conditions of its participants.
