The Augustinian Monastery (Le Monastère des Augustines) is at 77 rue des Remparts, behind Hôtel-Dieu de Québec. The museum, housed in the recently renovated 17th-century monastery, marks the site of North America's first hospital, which was founded in 1639 by three French nuns of the order of les Augustines Hospitalières. The museum collections are used to showcase the order's spiritual lives as well as their social and nursing work. Displays include pieces from the Augustines' 12 hospitals and feature items like furnishings and early medical tools from France and England. Concerts and cultural programs are offered throughout the year. Guided tours are available.
