South County Museum is entered from Strathmore St. off Kingstown Road/SR 1A at the Narragansett Indian Monument following signs into Canonchet Farm to 115 Strathmore St. This living-history museum features seven buildings with exhibits that allow visitors to experience 19th-century life as it was in towns, on farms and on the sea. The museum includes a living-history farm, letterpress print shop, blacksmith shop, carpenter shop, maritime exhibit and a large collection of horse-drawn farm machinery and carriages. Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
$10; $9 (senior citizens); $5 (ages 6-12).
Hours: Tues.-Sat. 10-4, July-Aug.; Fri.-Sat. 10-4, May-June and in Sept.; by appointment in Oct.
