Constructed in 1673, this restaurant is believed to be the oldest tavern in America and the 10th oldest in the World. It exudes 17th century charm.
AAA Inspector Notes
Classic Historic. Known as the oldest operating tavern in America, this Colonial home's clapboard walls, gambrel roof and large fireplaces are some of the typical elements seen today as they were in the 17th century. The romantic setting is enhanced with candlelit tables and roaring fires. Fresh native ingredients are used when possible. Signature dishes include their clear Rhode Island clam chowder, crispy duck confit, and beef Wellington topped with foie gras mousse. The staff is welcoming. The restaurant is typically only open for dinner in Winter. They also have a convenient 12 car parking lot located behind their building via Farewell Street.
