Brown University is on College Hill at jct. College and Prospect sts. Brown, an Ivy League institution, began in 1764 as Rhode Island College in Warren and was relocated to Providence in 1770. The university’s Van Wickle gates are at the corner of College and Prospect streets. The visitors center in the Stephen Robert '62 Campus Center at Faunce House (75 Waterman St.) provides information about guided tours. Guided tours are available.
Hours: Mon.-Fri. 9-5 during the academic year, Mon.-Fri. 8-4 in summer.
