Providence Children's Museum is at 100 South St. Children ages 1-11 and their families explore a garden planted with plants and trees native to Rhode Island; stretch and wriggle through a climbing sculpture and embark on a subterranean tour of root systems and critters' burrows; take a hands-on time-travel adventure; investigate the power of air; and learn about bones, bridges and fountains. Daily programs offer a variety of additional hands-on activities. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$9; free (ages 0-1, members and to all on third Fri. evening of the month).
Hours: Daily 9-6 (open until 8 on select Fri.), Apr. 1-Labor Day.; Tues.-Sun. and Mon. holidays 9-6, rest of year. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
