Looking for something other than Italian in the middle of Federal Hill? Try this authentic Mexican place. The food is delicious and locally voted as the best Mexican restaurant in the city. Start with the sampler platter consisting of chicken and cheese quesadillas served with pico de gallo, homemade guacamole and two cubes of añejo cheese, plus a brazo de reina (a large tamale filled with spinach, eggs and pumpkin seeds). Then move on to the chimichanga burrito, which can be fried or baked and filled with marinated chicken and topped with green and red sauce and melted cheese, and served with rice and beans. Finally, finish with the creamy flan. The atmosphere is quite romantic and charming, especially at night with the pressed-tin lighting and unique counter-lit bar top aglow. A hand-painted Mexican-themed mural running across the restaurant serves as a piece of art, with large window-like mirrors breaking it up every few feet to make the dining room feel more spacious.
