IYRS School of Technology & Trades

IYRS School of Technology & Trades is at 449 Thames St. in the waterfront district. The School of Technology & Trades teaches future shipwrights the skills, history and science of restoring and maintaining classic wooden yachts. Visitors can watch students at work restoring the Coronet, a 133-foot schooner built in 1885, as well as the school's collection of antique boats. The 2.5-acre waterfront campus offers views of Newport harbor. Exhibits in the museum and library pertain to the sport of yachting.
