AAA Editor Notes
Sukanen Ship, Pioneer Village and Museum is 13 km (8 mi.) s. on Hwy. 2. The large, unfinished ship was built by Tom Sukanen, a Finnish settler who had planned to sail the boat home to his native country by way of the South Saskatchewan River, Hudson Bay, Greenland and Iceland. The village consists of an old post office, blacksmith shop, school, church, railroad station, a general store, drug store and the Diefenbaker homestead. Also on site is a collection of antique tractors, trucks and cars.
