Western Development Museum's History of Transportation is at 50 Diefenbaker Dr. Exhibits pertain to air, water, rail and land transportation. The museum also houses an observatory. The Snowbird Gallery contains aircraft and memorabilia from the Canadian Armed Forces aerobatic team. Trips aboard the Short Line 101, a miniature steam locomotive, are offered on weekends. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Museum admission $9.52; $8.57 (ages 65+); $6.90 (students with ID); $3.81 (ages 6-12); $23.81 (family, parents or guardians and dependent children under age 18). Train rides $2.86.
Hours: Daily 9-5, Apr.-Dec.; Tues.-Sun. 9-5, rest of year. Closes at 3 p.m. Nov. 19 and Dec. 24 and 31. Short Line 101 train runs Sat.-Sun. 11-4, Victoria Day-Labour Day (weather permitting). Phone ahead to confirm train schedule, which is dependent on staff availability. Closed Jan. 1, Family Day (third Mon. in Feb.), Good Friday, Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day, Nov. 20, Christmas and day after Christmas.
