AAA Editor Notes
Lexington County Museum Complex is at 231 Fox St. Three dozen historical structures from 1770-1865 have been moved to this 7-acre site and depict the spartan lifestyle of the area. In addition to the county's oldest documented house, a hen house, pigeon house, cotton gin, carriage house, smokehouse, one-room schoolhouse, barns and corncribs are some of the structures included. Slave quarters and a 19th-century garden also are on the grounds.

The buildings house collections of quilts, coverlets, Native American artifacts and farm tools and equipment. Furnishings were constructed by local craftspeople in the 18th- and 19th centuries. Guides dressed in period attire describe the history and function of each building.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
