Batoche National Historic Site is w. on Hwy. 225. The decisive battle of the Northwest Rebellion/Métis Resistance of 1885 was fought at this site, which covers 1,080 hectares (1,650 acres). Features include the ruins of a Batoche village, the St. Antoine de Padoue church and a rectory. The Visitor Reception Centre has an audiovisual presentation and exhibits about the culture and traditions of Métis descendants. Interpretive signs are at key locations throughout the park, and costumed interpreters are on hand to answer questions.
