Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site, 181 Redcliffe Rd., is the former home of successful planter and politician James Henry Hammond. Guided tours of the 1859 Greek Revival mansion highlight Civil War history as well as the generations of African-Americans who were enslaved at the estate. The 369-acre site also encompasses a visitor center, two slave cabins, a hiking trail, magnolia trees and an heirloom garden.
