South Carolina Botanical Garden, on the e. side of the Clemson University campus off Perimeter Rd. at 102 Garden Tr., is a 295-acre garden with an arboretum; gristmill; greenhouse; pagoda; and the Pioneer Complex, which has exhibits labeled in Braille. The garden contains 2,200 varieties of plants, including one of the largest shrub collections in the eastern United States. The wildflower, fern and bog gardens contain species native to the state. Education programs, a sculpture collection and hiking trails are also available.
