Robert Mills House and Gardens, 1616 Blanding St., was designed by architect Robert Mills and houses a decorative arts collection. The 1823 house features formal English gardens and rooms furnished in the Regency style. Mills, the first federal architect of the United States, served seven presidents. His many notable designs include the Washington Monument and the U.S. Treasury Building in Washington, D.C.
