Hobcaw Barony, 22 Hobcaw Rd., is a 16,000-acre wildlife refuge owned by the Belle W. Baruch Foundation and operated as a research, conservation and education facility. Staff-guided tours and programs are offered year-round and include the plantations, former rice fields, forests, marshes and swamps. Audiovisual presentations, lectures, field studies, walks, and focus tours are available at specific times as public programs.
The Discovery Center museum features exhibits about environmental research, plantation history, the Bernard Baruch family, a 1,200-gallon saltwater aquarium, and local flora and fauna.
Access to the grounds is by guided tour only.
Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
