Audubon Center at Francis Beidler Forest is off I-26W exit 187 or I-26E exit 177 at 336 Sanctuary Rd., following Beidler Forest signs. The 17,000-acre sanctuary contains the largest known stand of virgin cypress and tupelo trees in the world. A 1.75-mile boardwalk offers a close look at cypress trees that are more than 1,000 years old as well as abundant native wildlife and plant life. The visitor center has displays relating to the swamp. Guided 4-hour canoe trips are offered in spring. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$10; $8 (ages 65+); $5 (ages 6-12). Canoe trip $30; $15 (ages 8-12). Reservations are required for canoe trips.
