Huntington Beach State Park, 3 mi. s. on US 17 at 16148 Ocean Hwy., offers nearly 2,500 acres of natural habitat as well as camping and recreational facilities. The park features nature trails, beach areas, a saltwater marsh and a freshwater lagoon. Observation decks afford opportunities to view native wildlife, including shorebirds and alligators. Daily nature study programs are offered March through October. Atalaya, a 1930s house, is within the park.
