Santee State Park is 3 mi. n.w. off SR 6 at 251 State Park Rd. A popular fishing spot for locals, the 2,500-acre park is located along Lake Marion, which is home to bass, crappie and catfish. Other recreational activities include bird-watching, geocaching and tennis. In addition to its three nature trails (each a mile-long loop), the park also offers a 7.5-mile biking/hiking trail.
A visitor center features exhibits about the site's natural and cultural history. Two-hour narrated tours of Stumphole Swamp conducted by Fisheagle Tours also offer visitors deeper insight into the area's ecology and history.
Guided tours are available. Pets on leash are allowed. Recreational activities are permitted. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.
