Prairie Homestead

Prairie Homestead is 2 mi. s. of I-90 exit 131 on the Badlands 240 Loop (SR 240), next to the northeast entrance. This rustic sod dwelling was built and occupied by homesteaders in 1909. Located on its original site, the house is furnished much as it was when homesteaders lived here. Audio and video presentations provide insight into life during this period. Pioneer clothing is available for visitors to wear while touring the homestead. Farm animals and rare white prairie dogs are on the grounds.
