South Dakota State University is off I-29 exit 132, w. of 22nd Ave. and n. of 6th St. The university is the state's first land-grant institution and has an enrollment of more than 12,500 students. Founded in 1881, it is the state's largest university and leading research institution as well as the home to Research Park at SDSU. The university also is home to the Agricultural Heritage Museum, McCrory Gardens, Ritz Gallery, the South Dakota Art Museum and the SDSU Dairy Bar and its signature landmark, the Coughlin Campanile.
