Pros: This appears to be a family-run establishment, and the front check-in staff were friendly enough, though quite young.
Cons: Let me begin by saying that I have been a long-time fan of Motel Six. This, however, is the worst Motel Six I have ever encountered. I would definitely not stay here again, and I recommend that others spend a few bucks more to stay elsewhere in Hot Springs. The first thing I noticed was that the first level has somewhat of a moth problem, with moths huddled all over the walls. I figured this might be a regional/climate issue and tried to give the place the benefit of the doubt. After all, the moths seemed to be confined to the inner hallways, not the rooms themselves. On the third floor where I was staying, the carpet near the elevator has a huge water stain. Again, I thought, okay this place is run-down, but maybe it's okay. Then--I entered my room. The comforter was old and dingy, but no worries, I just pulled off the comforter. Everyone knows those don't get cleaned regularly. However, when I saw my pillows, I was truly grossed out. The pillowcases were stained yellow in places, and there was a long hair underneath the pillow case (visible through the white fabric). Fortunately, I had my own pillows in the car (for camping, later that week), and I was able to bring them in. The sheets themselves seemed clean, thank goodness. (Note: I saw another family carrying in pillows from their car... hmm...) As for the mattress, it was broken, squishy, and lumpy, which made for an extremely uncomfortable night's sleep. To top it all off, when I went to take some toilet paper off the roll in the bathroom, the toilet paper holder came right out of the wall! I couldn't wait to get out of this place and will definitely not be back. It seems that the management is coasting off prior good reviews and the Motel Six brand and not actually putting any effort into maintaining a respectable establishment.
