Fort Sisseton Historic State Park is 7 mi. w. on SR 10, then 6 mi. s., following signs. The 198-acre site, consisting of 14 well-preserved stone fort buildings and breastworks, was built in 1864 and served as an active military post until 1889. Guided tours are available. Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Recreational activities are permitted. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
Daily park entrance fee $4; $6 (per private vehicle); $30 (annual license).
Hours: Visitor center open Sun.-Thurs. 10-6, Fri.-Sat. 10-8, weekend before Memorial Day-Labor Day; Mon.-Fri. 8-4:30, Sat.-Sun. 10-6, day after Labor Day-Sept. 30; Mon.-Fri. 8-4:30, rest of year.
