Dakota Discovery Museum is at 1300 McGovern Ave. on the Dakota Wesleyan University campus. Galleries display the art of Harvey Dunn, James Earle Fraser, Charles Hargens and Oscar Howe. A history gallery contains Native American beadwork and quillwork as well as exhibits about the settlement experience and the fur trade. Restored buildings include the 1886 Beckwith House, an Italianate villa; an 1885 one-room schoolhouse; a 1900 railroad depot; and a 1909 church. Hands-on exhibits in Discoveryland appeal to children.
