Nicollet Tower and Interpretive Center is 3.5 mi. w. on SR 10 at Golf Course Rd. The 75-foot tower offers a three-state view of the surrounding countryside. The interpretive center has information about French mapmaker Joseph N. Nicollet, who in the 1830s created what is reputedly the first accurate map of the area between the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. The center also displays 10 historical murals by John S. Wilson. The video “Dakota Encounters” is shown regularly.
